Isabella Stewart Garnder Museum: Nov. 2-9 Events

The week of Nov. 2 to 9, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum will hold three public programs that will present new findings and insights.

Monthly Sketching Meet-Up

BOSTON — On Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 2:00 p.m., the Isabella Stewart Gardner gives artists the opportunity to draw closer to the Gardner, with a social sketching group. Meet in the Studio for an introduction to the day’s sketching challenge, practice drawing techniques in the galleries, and finish with a discussion over coffee. All levels of experience are welcome. This program runs approximately 2 hours. Tickets are required and include Museum admission, instruction, materials and coffee: non-members $20, members $12.

BOSTON — On Thursday, Nov. 6 at 7:00 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 16 at 2:00 p.m., the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum will hold the second in a series of collection conversations to complement the Donatello, Michelangelo, Cellini: Sculptors’ Drawings from Renaissance Italy exhibition. This half-hour gallery discussion led by the Gardner staff, will explore connections between the current special exhibition and works of art in the Museum’s permanent collection. Make It Monumental discusses large or small, size makes a difference in how we respond to works of art. Tickets are free with Museum admission. Museum admission is $15 for adults; $12 for seniors, $5.00 for students with valid IDs; and youth age 18 and under are free.

BOSTON — On Satuday, Nov 8, at 2:00 p.m., Gianfranco Pocobene and Rona Pondick will discuss the processes involved in making and studying works of art that are continuously evolving, and speak volumes about the relationships between artists and society. In this conversation about technology’s impact on the art world, Pocobene will present a new look at drawing techniques used by Michelangelo in the Gardner’s Pietà. Pondick will discuss finding inspiration in the work of earlier artists and her practice of blending traditional techniques with new technologies. Tickets are required and include Museum admission. Tickets are $15 for adults; $12 for seniors, $5.00 for students with valid IDs; and youth age 18 and under are free.
