Joe Andruzzi Foundation & Honey Dew Donuts(R) to Treat Bostonians to Free Coffee and Donuts for National Coffee Day

On Monday, September 28th, three-time Super Bowl Champion and cancer

survivor Joe Andruzzi will play barista for the morning, handing out free coffee and donuts in anticipation of National Coffee Day and the Joe Andruzzi Foundation’s (JAF) returning partnership with Honey Dew Donuts®. From 10AM to 11:30AM, coffee drinkers are invited to stop by the Honey Dew mobile truck (parked on the Rose Kennedy Greenway adjacent to the New England Aquarium) to enjoy a small cup of “Joe” and a JAF-themed “(Up)Beat Donut” served by Joe and Honey Dew CEO, Dick Bowen.

The free coffee and donut event is the kick off for the second consecutive year that Honey Dew Donuts®, New England’s largest locally owned coffee and donut shop chain, has joined forces with JAF to support their mission of providing emotional and financial support to cancer patients and their families. For the partnership, Honey Dew, the official coffee of the Foundation, will once again offer the “(Up)Beat Donut” at all of their 145 locations, with a portion of the proceeds from the specially-created red and blue-sprinkled, chocolate frosted donut to be donated to the Foundation. Additionally, all Honey Dew locations will sell $1 window decals and will match and donate all proceeds of the decals, dollar for dollar, to JAF until the campaign ends on October 31, 2015.

The funds raised through the partnership with Honey Dew will directly support JAF’s financial assistance program, which provides grants that help patient families with everyday expenses, including rent and mortgage payments, utility bills, and more. Last year, Honey Dew customers and franchisees were able to raise over $40,000 for the Joe Andruzzi Foundation.

ABOUT THE JOE ANDRUZZI FOUNDATION:

The Joe Andruzzi Foundation, founded in 2008, is committed to providing help, hope, and a reason to smile for cancer patients and their families by contributing financial and emotional support when it is needed most, as well as funding pediatric brain cancer research.
