Police: Boston Man Using Skimmer to Steal ATM Information

According to police, the suspect stole $10,000 from a customer last month.

Police in Boston’s North End neighborhood are actively searching for a wanted man who they believe is stealing personal information at an ATM in the area.

Investigators say the suspect is using a “skimmer” to extract information from customers that use a Citizens Bank ATM on Hanover Street. It’s not known if any other machines in the area have been compromised.

Skimmers are another name for devices that are placed over ATM card readers. The device then gathers information from the magnetic strip on the card.
