Klimas who served as the director of food service operations was recently promoted to director of operations food program manager for the YMCA of Greater Boston organization overall. Gaeta who served as the association wide director of teen programs will now hold the position of operations director for the East Boston branch.

In her most recent position, Klimas balanced many duties and responsibilities and is most notable for the work she did overseeing the year round food programs and summer food service and building community partnerships and opportunities for expansion. Additionally, as the YUSA-Regional food facilitator, Klimas provided support as guidance to regional YMCA’s while hosting webinars, training, and meetings to work toward the national goal of eradicating childhood hunger.
A graduate of Springfield College and a long-time veteran of the YMCA, Klimas is excited to continue nurturing existing relationships with community partners and looks forward to new ones that will further strengthen the city related to the USDA and Nutrition Programs for the Y’s Early Childhood Education Centers, after school programs, and summer programs.

Serving the YMCA community has also always been a passion of Joseph J. Gaeta Jr., who has been a part of the East Boston Branch for ten years since graduating from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Gaeta began his work at the Y as the school age child care site director where he performed many duties such as creating and implementing the educational curriculum for ages five through thirteen. In 2010, Gaeta held the title of youth, teen and family program director where he oversaw operation of the teen fitness center, family programming, and assisted in fundraising efforts for youth scholarships to camp.
As the new operations director at the East Boston Branch, Gaeta is prepared to accept more responsibility, take on new roles and projects, and develop new programs and community outreach opportunities.
