Norton Teen Saves Man Who Drove Into Reservoir

Norton police said John Cacaccio jumped into the frigid Norton Reservoir last week to save a driver in the water.

NORTON, MA — A Norton High School student saved a distraught man who drove into the frigid Norton Reservoir last week, according to police. John Cacaccio, an 18-year-old senior, was presented with a commendation by Norton police for his "heroic actions."

On Thursday, January 19, a 51-year-old man drove into the reservoir, police said. Cacaccio told the Sun Chronicle he was driving by and decided to take action, wading and swimming about 100 feet in the water to reach the man.

"I didn't know if he could swim," Cacaccio told the Sun Chronicle.
