Norton PD Arrests Man Wanted For Assaulting Officer

Police said Michael Lowden failed to show up in court last week after he was released on bail for allegedly dragging an officer down stairs.

NORTON, MA – A Bridgewater man wanted for multiple counts of assaulting a police officer was arrested at a Norton hotel early Thursday morning. Michael Lowden, 20, was taken into custody at the Extended Stay America hotel on South Washington Street around 6:50 a.m. A person called police after recognizing Lowden from news reports about him being wanted for arrest, police said.

Bridgewater police had been searching for Lowden after he failed to show up for his arraignment on May 25. The day before, Lowden allegedly became "combative" with officers as he was being led down a flight of stairs in a Pleasant Street home. During the struggle, he allegedly dragged an officer down the stairs, injuring the officer.

Lowden posted $1,540 bail and was released that night. A warrant was issued for his arrest the next day after he did not appear in court, police said.
