Norton Woman Murdered By Estranged Husband: Police

Martin McDonald, of Weymouth, allegedly killed Julie Meede then crashed his truck, seriously injuring another woman, authorities said.

NORTON, MA — A Weymouth man stabbed his estranged wife to death in Norton Wednesday then crashed his truck into another vehicle on Route 495, seriously injuring another woman, authorities said.

Martin McDonald, 35, of Weymouth, was charged with murdering Julie Meede, 34, of Holmes Street.

Police said at about 7:30 p.m., they received a call from a person in Meede’s apartment that she had been stabbed. First responders found her unresponsive; she was transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Police said McDonald, after murdering Meede, got into a Dodge Ram pickup truck and was traveling south on Route 495 when he crossed over the median and struck a Nissan traveling in the northbound lane. The driver, a 30-year-old Rhode Island woman, was seriously injured and transported to Rhode Island Hospital.

McDonald will be arraigned Thursday morning in Attleboro District Court.
