Norton Wrestling Star Gives Up Undefeated Season in Best Way Possible
Deven Schuko went down for his first loss of the season to a special needs athlete who simply "wanted a match."

NORTON, MA — A Norton High School wrestling star displayed an uncommon act of sportsmanship this weekend—losing his first match to a special needs student who simply ”wanted a match.”

Deven Schuko went down to Dighton-Rehoboth wrestler Andy Howland. It was Schuko’s first loss of the season and put him at 27-1.
“He wanted a match, and I wanted to tangle with him,” Schuko told WCVB. He’s ranked one of the top wrestlers in Massachusetts.

Howland, who has Down Syndrome, was thrilled. A local firefighter captured the match on video—Howland can be seen high-fiving teammates.
“Sportsmanship is alive and well today,” Howland’s mother told WCVB.
