NORTON, MA β A man fired at police officers during a standoff in Norton on John Scott Boulevard Thursday night that ended peacefully and with no one hurt. The suspect, Heath Mullett, 42, eventually surrendered and faces a host of charges.
Police said they were called to Mullett's residence Thursday at about 9:30 p.m. for a report he was arguing with a woman. The woman told officers she fled the home with a young child after Mullett starting acting "irrational" while intoxicated. The suspect barricaded himself inside the home, police said, and the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council SWAT team was called to the scene. "Officers did not return fire," Jackson said in a statement. "After negotiators and officers spoke with the Mullett, he surrendered and exited the residence with the assistance of the SWAT team."
