2018 Norwood Town Election: New School Committee Member Elected

First-time candidate David Catania beat school committee member Patrick McDonough in the only contested race on the ballot.

NORWOOD, MA — A new member of the school committee will join the board next week. In the lone contested race on the ballot, newcomer David Catania beat one-term incumbent Patrick McDonough 1,632-518. Catania's first school committee meeting will be April 12.

After the results came in, Catania said on Norwood Community Media (formerly Norwood Public Access) that he was excited to make the town better and thanked the residents for their votes.

A short time later, McDonough said he ran a more traditional campaign compared to Catania's social media efforts. He said he was most proud of his role in hiring a new superintendent, changing district policies to match up with a 21st century education, and his work on the budget.
