3 Injured After Drugged Norwood Man Causes Crash: MSP

A Norwood man under the influence of drugs was racing someone on I-95 and caused the other driver to collide with another car, police said.

NORWOOD, MA — A Norwood man was arrested Friday after causing a serious crash on Interstate 95 in Westwood, which injured three people, according to State Police. According to police David Hector, 19, was racing another car under the influence of drugs and caused the other car to collide with another. Hector was charged with operating under the influence of drugs, racing a motor vehicle, negligent operation of a vehicle, and marked lane violations.

Around 5 a.m., Hector, was racing a Hyundai Elantra, driven by a 19-year-old Dorchester man, on I-95 north, police said. Just before exit 13, the Hyundai collided with the car in front of it, causing the car to lose control and rollover.

The Dorchester man and his passenger, a 17-year-old girl, were ejected from the vehicle and sustained serious injuries. One of them was rushed to Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, while the other was sent to Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. The driver of the other car was taken to Faulkner Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Hector was scheduled to be arraigned in Dedham District Court Friday morning.
