How to Lock in your Mortgage Rate

Chip Poli, CEO of Poli Mortgage Group, Inc. based in Norwood shares advice when it comes to locking in mortgage rates.

When quoted a rate over the phone, ask if you can lock it in right then and there. If you can't, the odds are that it is not the rate you will end up with.

There are many factors that go into what your mortgage rate will be, for instance credit score, yearly income, marital status, and special circumstances such as military service.

If the lender you are speaking with can't lock you in when they initially give you the rate, beware because it could be too good to be true.
