Let's Talk Spray Foam Insulation

Brian Kearney owns Neponset Valley Construction in Norwood, MA and is considered a home weatherization expert.

Insulation is just as important in the summer as it is in the winter. Before weatherizing your home you should be aware of a relatively new product available called Spray Foam Insulation. It is a great tool for almost any project, and is great for retrofitting. Spray Foam Insulation is generally known as being a more effective product than conventional insulators such as cellulose or fiberglass. It can be blown in to older structures without the need for an invasive project, and it doesn't expand when drying so you don't have to worry about damage to your house.

Some other benefits to using spray foam as insulation are:

  • It is environmentally friendly - the foam allows for air sealing, which helps with energy efficiency.
  • Indoor air quality is maintained.
  • Noise pollution is decreased.
  • Certain formulas are impervious to moisture which is excellent for preventing water damage and mold growth.
  • It is easily and quickly installed.
