NHVS To Give Away Free Spays/Neuters To Needy Cats

February is Worldwide Spay/Neuter Awareness Month.

Neponset Valley Humane Society (neponsethumane.org), a not-for-profit, no-kill, humane rescue effort, is offering up to 50 free spays/neuters to cats in local communities in honor of Worldwide Spay/Neuter Awareness Month. Interested cat and kitten owners can apply anytime during the month of February.

The sad fact is that there are more and more cats put out every year on the street because of unwanted litters. Most people don’t know that a cat can get pregnant as young as four months. Or that a cat might have as many as three litters in one year. These abandoned pets struggle to survive on the streets and often continue to reproduce for many years increasing the already tragic cat overpopulation problem.

With rescue organizations overflowing with wonderful yet "unwanted" cats, Neponset Valley Humane Society knows the only way to control the problem is through spay and neuter efforts.

Many people in these economic times cannot afford this service, so in honor of the worldwide effort to remind people about the importance of spay and neuter, NVHS is offering 50 free spays/neuters to qualifying individuals.

To qualify, please call (781) 769-1990 or email nvhumanesociety@gmail.com. NVHS relies solely on donations from generous givers and requests that only those individuals in financial need apply for this opportunity. NVHS is an all-volunteer organization and every penny raised goes directly to care for the cats and kittens. We have no building and rely on foster families to house our cats until a permanent home can be found.

Worldwide Spay/Neuter Awareness Month is this February. It provides a unique opportunity for everyone who cares about animals to join together toward a common goal - a comprehensive global, united effort to end the euthanasia and suffering of companion animals.

Neponset Valley Humane Society gratefully accepts monetary donations and food for feral cats. To donate any items, please visit our website at www.neponsethumane.org.

You can make a difference in the sad plight of thousands of homeless cats right here in our own local neighborhoods by participating in Spay/Neuter Awareness Month.
