Practicing what I preach!

Dr. Marc is beginning a transformative journey leading up to his wedding in August.

Day 125

Yesterday, as I popped another chocolate chip cookie into my mouth, my fiancée Jill asked yet again when the wedding diet was going to start. My answer has always been, “100 days out!” After all, when I decided to run the Boston Marathon in 2011, I started training for it 100 days out. It just sounded like a nice round number. In reconsidering it; if I’m going to start preparing 100 days out, I should at least give 25 days to preparing to prepare to be a husband! I’m sure that having a successful marriage takes a bit more work than running 26.2 miles!

So, today marks 125 days until the wedding. Which really means 124 days left to prepare for the day that I get married…the start of the rest of my life loving and supporting another person. I’ve been single and “unencumbered” for so long that it worries me just a bit that I’ll be able to give this wonderful woman my best; when I barely give myself the best all the time!

Therefore, I’ve decided to dedicate the next 124 days to being the best version of myself, so that Jill gets the husband she deserves!

The journey begins with the BluePrint™ cleanse…because; nothing says being your best like the irritability that inevitably flows from hunger! I’ve got to admit my “breakfast,” the initial green drink was pretty tasty. However, I’ll be sure to let you know how I do after only ingesting liquids for the next three days! But, trimming down and getting into shape would be for the best, so it starts here: 193.5 lbs. with a bit of a belly, and barely serviceable muscle mass. I’ll spare you the visual!

Each day leading up to the wedding, I’ll strive to fulfill three categories of good living: Being Fit, Eating Right, and Thinking Well. As a Doctor of Chiropractic, I advise people to exercise, eat a healthy balanced diet, and reduce stress in their lives…I’m just not always the best living example. So, in part my journey is about being a model of transformation, in whatever way that I can be, for all of my practice members. Like Rocky Balboa addressed the crowd in Rocky IV, “…if I can change, and you can change, everybody can change!”

I believe we’re all here to live out our personal legends, and we have a lot more control over that then most of us will ever truly discover. I’m down for that exploration, and I hope to inspire others. At the very least, I intend to continue to lovingly serve my practice members, and love on Jill for however many days I have left.

The first skill that I’m discovering I need to dust off and adopt is time management. Tony Robbins, who I’ll be re-listening to a lot over the next few months, says “If you talk about it, it’s a dream. If you envision it, it’s possible. But, if you schedule it, it’s real.” I’m sure there’s some app out there that will help!

Sharing the journey in this blog is the final piece of the puzzle. I need some accountability! Especially, since I actually made it a New Year’s Resolution to write and post more often. It’s well into April and this is only my second post this year, so you can see what I’m up against! Wish me luck!
