St. Timothy's celebrated 50th with Cardinal O'Malley

50th anniversary Mass at St. Timothy's.

A year long celebration of the 50th anniversary of St. Timothy Parish came to a close with a special Mass celebrated by Sean Cardinal O'Malley on Saturday, June 15 at 4:30.  Joining the pastor, Fr. Culloty for the happy occasion was Fr. Wiliam Lucey and Fr. John Ronaghan.  Both were on a team ministry at the parish from 1983-1984.  In 1984, Fr. Lucey was appointed pastor and the led the vibrant parish to 1996.  Several other priests connected with the parish attended too.  Following the Mass, the Cardinal greeted parishioners outside the church.  Under a tent erected for the occasion, a buffet dinner got underway on the grounds of the church.

St. Timothy's was established on February 12, 1963 under the pastorate of Rev. John J. Lane.  The late Bishop Jeremiah F. Minahan, pastor of St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Norwood at the time, named the parish St. Timothy in memory of his father who had passed away in 1962.
