Cape Cod Carjacker From Norwood Crashes 2 Cars: Police
Chatham police say Joseph Bopp stole two cars in Chatham and crashed one in Pleasant Bay.

CHATHAM, MA — A man with a Norwood address faces charges from incidents across two days in Chatham, police said.
Joseph Bopp, 27, who has addresses in Chatham and Norwood, faces various vehicle, larceny, and assault charges. He was scheduled to be arraigned in Orleans District Court. He also had multiple active warrants, according to the Chatham Police Department.
The first alleged incident took place on March 20 at about 10:15 p.m. Chatham Police say they responded to a report of a man stealing a vehicle on Main Street. The suspect, identified as Bopp, left the scene before officers arrived, but police observed the stolen vehicle being driven recklessly on Route 28 before losing sight of the care.

A couple hours later at 20:10 a.m., the vehicle was located crashed and abandoned in Orleans. At 12:38 a.m., police responded to a car crash just off of Route 28. A woman at the scene told police that a man approached her car, forced her out, and attempted to leave. The man then allegedly crashed the vehicle in Pleasant Bay before running away.
Bopp was taken into custody, on March 21 at 8:45 a.m. when officers monitoring the area of the original disturbance call saw a man enter the property who matched the description of the suspect. The man was identified as Bopp and he was taken into police custody.

- Reckless operation of a motor vehicle
- Speeding
- Marked lane violation
- Operating without head/tail lights
- Operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license
- Failure to stop for police
- Assault on a family/household member
March 21 Incidents:
- Carjacking
- Motor vehicle larceny
- Assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (motor vehicle)
- Assault and battery
- Reckless operation of a motor vehicle
- Operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license
- Leaving the scene of a property damage crash
