Coach's Brief: Norwood Swim and Dive vs. Walpole

A close loss to one of the best in the league.

From Coach Kim Goodwin

Walpole 96, Norwood 82.

Walpole is arguably the best team in the league with the most depth. They pushed us to some of our best times of the season.

The highlight of the meet, however, was Norwood outscoring Walpole in the diving event (a first for this team) with MacKenzie Begley and Mary Pat Norton eclipsing their own personal bests. Captain Norton then swam the very next event, the grueling 100 fly, and came away with another personal best.

Eddie Hernon returned from an injury to swim his best time in the 100 breast and qualify for states; Patricia Lee, restricted to backstroke events because of shoulder tendonitis, turned in a solid performance in the 100 backstroke. Lee also got the lead for her teammates in the very first event, the 200 yard medley relay. The Mustangs would come in 2nd by a mere .001 second to Walpole but with their fastest time of the season. Jimmy Conley continues to improve, lowering both his own team records in the 200 and 500 freestyle. Meaghan Shaughnessy also had a best time in the 100 yard free.
