Coach's Brief: Norwood Swim and Dive vs. Norton

A close loss to one of the league's strongest teams.

From Coach Kim Goodwin

We came so very close to upsetting one of the strongest teams of the Bay State League, especially considering two high scoring seniors had to sit out and then we lost Eddie Hernon and Mary Pat Norton early in the meet to shoulder pain and sickness.

We started off with a win the first event but soon found out the relay got disqualified. However, our spirits never dampened as some of the swims were truly incredible as even the most seasoned swimmers swam to their lifetime bests and a few surprise high placings.

Jimmy Conley qualified for states while going personal best times in the 500 yard free (5:47) and the 200 yard free (2:06.2). Patricia Lee's 200 yard freestyle (2:04) and 500 yard freestyle (5:35), Charlotte Rivard's 200 IM (2:29) and 100 fly (1:06.2); Meaghan Shaughnessy's 100 yard free (1:03), Megan Clifford's 100 back (1:07 - qualified for sectionals) and Marguerite Lee's 100 breast (1:19) all eclipsed their own best marks. Caitlin Sullivan, Meg Norton, Katherine Osborne, and Tessa Maguire also swam best times during this exciting meet. The coaches couldn't have been prouder of all the swimmers and divers, especially when they had to step in for teammates who couldn't continue! Bravo!
