County Sheriff Reviews Safety Programs With Norwood Seniors

The meeting had seniors, law enforcement, and senior support services work together to address the needs and concerns of all seniors.

NORWOOD, MA – Norfolk County Sheriff Jerome McDermott met with local seniors Monday at the council on aging to discuss safety programs available to all seniors in town. The meeting was part of the county's Triad program, which has senior citizens, law enforcement, and senior support services work together to address the needs and concerns of all seniors in the community.

McDermott's office discussed safety programs including:

  • “Are You OK?” – a senior safety phone alert
  • Files of Life – an information card listing all medications used by an individual
  • Yellow Dot Program – which provides first responders with critical medical information
  • LoJack SafetyNet Search & Rescue Program
  • Speakers Bureau – which brings notable speakers to address and engage seniors
  • Crime Prevention Seminars – to inform seniors of the steps that can be taken to protect themselves

These meetings will be monthly and allow seniors to voice their concerns to local police and fire officials. Town officials can also use these meetings to keep seniors up to date on programs that affect them, the Norfolk County sheriff's office said.
