Foxborough's Second Half Comeback Too Much for Mustangs
Despite controlling the early part of the game, Norwood boys lacrosse fell to Foxborough Monday afternoon, 7-4.
Despite a winning first half for the Mustangs, the Foxborough Warriors would brush them off to pull of a second half come back, beating the Norwood Mustangs 7-4 Monday afternoon.
It started as a normal game for the all star Warriors. Goals from Billy Roberts and Alex Pacitti gave the Warriors a quick 2-0 lead. Despite the quick lead, the Warriors looked sluggish and slow. Norwood controlled the pace of the first half, becoming the first team of the season to look superior over Foxborough for an extended period of time.
Norwood would begin to dominate in the second quarter. Mike Murray would put the Mustangs on the board to make it a 2-1 game. The Norwood attack would continue with the tying goal from Brian Rossman. With the possession game being won by Norwood, Foxborough goalie Greg Stamatov did everything he could to keep the Warriors in the game.

Making spectacular save after save, it was not enough to keep all of Norwood’s shots out of the net. Mike Murray would get his second goal of the game to make it 3-2. He would then get the assist on a Kyle Postler goal to give the Mustangs a 4-2 lead they would take into halftime. Coming off of their game at Gillette Stadium, the Warriors looked liked they were suffering from a postgame hangover from Saturday.
“It was a hangover,” said Foxborough coach Matt Noone. “We didn't get to practice yesterday and the kids showed up today thinking if they showed up to a field they could just win. You can’t just show up.”

Coming out of the half, Foxborough seemed to wake up. Steve Bresse got the Warriors scoring attack started with a goal to cut the lead to 1. Jake Soccorso got the tying goal with less than a minute to play in the quarter. Billy Roberts would add on another goal with 16 seconds left in the quarter.
The third quarter showed the character of the Warriors. Despite things not going their way earlier, this is not a team that was going to quit.
With the Mustangs hurting, the Warriors threw on 2 more goals for good measure. Cam Felix scored from 20 yards out and Dan McCarthy scored off of pass from Alex Oacitti to lock up a 7-4 win.
It was a tough game for Norwood. After playing a dominating game in the first, it was a completely different game in the second half for the Mustangs.
“It was a little tough. We made a few mistakes and that was the differences in the game,” said Mustangs coach Tom DeMaio. “We dominated the ball (it in first half). I was making sure our goalie and defense were awake because we had the ball so much its just when we got our opportunities we couldn’t finish on a few occasions.
