Friends of Norwood Schools

A new group in town was formed in late February to help the Norwood schools address the repeated cuts in funding over the past several years. It consists of parents, teachers, various town sub-committee members, and others who are interested in improving the quality of the Norwood schools. In short, there is an issue that Norwood is facing regarding the schools. For the past several years, the revenue coming into the town has been flat while expenses for the schools have been increasing. These increases are not coming from new expenses or programs being added, but rather from existing expenses increasing in cost year over year. At the same time, the schools have been making cuts while expenses have been increasing and still fall short. The best thing people in Norwood can do is to spend some time to understand these things to educate themselves on what is happening. No matter who you are and whether or not you or anyone in your family uses the schools, they affect everyone. They affect the town you live in, the value of your property, the quality of the community you live in.
