Letter To The Editor: Tuesday is Law Enforcement Appreciation Day

Norwood Hospital President Kim Bassett writes about the upcoming National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day

The following is a letter to the editor that was submitted to Norwood Patch. If you have a letter you would like to submit, you can email it to Local Editor Dan Libon at Dan.Libon@patch.com

Each Day, police officers in our community put on a badge and go to work knowing they may face dangerous situations in their quest to keep our residents safe. On average, between 105 and 203 officers die, 50,000 officers are assaulted and 14,000 officers are injured in the line of duty each year in this nation. Law enforcement officers have chosen a difficult career, one which sometimes only allows them seconds to make life-and-death decisions. In addition, we can’t overlook the sacrifices made by their families so that their loved–one can serve and protect others.

On Jan. 9, our Nation recognizes National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. Norwood Hospital would like to take this opportunity to thank our brave men and women in blue for their selfless service to our community. Thank you and be safe.
