Norwood Among Safest Places To Live In Massachusetts: New List

Norwood ranks as one of the safest communities in one of the safest states in the nation.

NORWOOD, MA – A new analysis has ranked Norwood among the 100 safety communities in Massachusetts, the fourth safest state in the country, according to National Council for Home Safety and Security website alarms.org. In that spirit, the site has also compiled the safest communities in the Bay State, based on FBI Uniform Crime Report statistics, population data and internal research. Cities that either failed to submit a complete crime report to the FBI or had populations under 10,000 did not qualify.

The remaining cities were ranked based on their number of reported violent crimes, such as aggravated assault, murder, rape and robbery, and property crimes, including burglary, arson, larceny-theft and motor vehicle theft, per 1,000 people.

According to alarms.org, Norwood came in at No. 70 and the safest community in Massachusetts is Wayland, which recorded just five violent crimes and six property crimes. The town averaged less than 0.5 crimes per 1,000 residents.
