The local brewery has also doubled their beer-making capacity.

NORWOOD, MA — A Norwood-based brewery is about to expand.

Castle Island Brewery announced in their newsletter Tuesday that they are ready to start construction on a new taproom at their Norwood brewery.

"This has been a long time coming. We've been working quietly and diligently on our taproom plans, and are finally ready to get building. We have received approvals from the Town of Norwood as well as from the State and construction will be starting soon," the newsletter said.

During construction, the tasting room will be closed and no tours will be offered, but the brewery will be open for retail sales on the weekend.

Castle Island Brewery, which opened in 2015, recently installed three new 60-barrel fermentation tanks, allowing for an increase in brewing capacity from 3,500 barrels-a-year to 7,000.
