Norwood Democrats to Hold Caucus for State Convention

The caucus to select delegates for the state convention will be held June 20.

The Norwood Democratic Town Caucus to select delegates for the 2015 Massachusetts Democratic Party’s Convention will be held on Saturday, June 20, at 2:00 PM at the Morse House (1285 Washington Street). Doors will open at 1:30 PM for Registration; there will be no registration after 2 PM.

Registered Democrats who attend the Caucus will vote to elect delegates and alternates to the 2015 Massachusetts Democratic Convention where Democrats from across the state will gather to meet fellow activists and hear from elected officials. The convention will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at the MassMutual Center in Springfield.

Caucus attendance and eligibility for election as a convention delegate are open to all Norwood residents who are registered Democrats by Jan. 31, 2015.

“This convention will be unique as we build on experiences from many competitive elections these past few years and look to strengthen the party for the future,” said Massachusetts Democratic Party Chairman, Senator Tom McGee. “Caucuses are an important step in growing our party engagement at the local level.”

The caucus is open to all registered Democrats in Norwood, and the Democratic Committee welcomes participants. Delegates will be divided equally between men and women, and all ballots will be written and secret. Unless you are serving in the military, you must be present at the meeting to be elected Delegate. Youth, minorities, and people with disabilities who are not elected as delegates or alternates may apply to be “add-on” delegates. Details on the rules can be found at www.massdems.org.

Discrimination on the basis of race, sex, age, color, creed, national origin, disability, religion, ethnic identity, sexual orientation or economic status in the conduct of the caucus is strictly prohibited. Challenges to the delegate selection process can be filed with the Massachusetts Democratic Party, 77 Summer Street 10th Floor Boston, MA 02110 no later than ten days after the caucus date.
