Norwood DPW Encourage Composting As New Year's Resolution

NORWOOD, MA — Norwood's Department of Public Works is suggesting a new kind of New Year's resolution to residents for 2020: Composting food scraps. Composting food scraps is a way for residents and the town to reduce waste disposal costs.

Norwood residents waste over $205,000 each year by throwing food scraps in the trash, according to Norwood DPW. Norwood DPW sells two types of compost bins - the Earth Machine for $20.00 and the Dual Composting Tumbler for $50. The bins are offered at a discount to residents. Those who purchase have to sign a Composting Pledge form so the town can keep track of who's purchased the bins.

Public Works is located at 1 Lyman Place and open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. The town also has a composting facility at the Winter Street Composting and Recycling facility.
