NORWOOD, MA — A Walpole man convicted of drunken driving in Norwood was sentenced to four years in prison. Edward Wright, 56, was charged with operating under the influence of liquor and operating a motor vehicle with a license suspended for an OUI. This was the ninth time Wright has faced an OUI charge.
In August 2017, Wright was arrested on Mellville Avenue after reports of erratic driving. Witnesses told police they saw Wright driving at a slow speed before speeding up to an extremely fast rate. Police said Wright then got out of his van and began knocking on several people's doors.
When officers first arrived, they couldn't find Wright, but a worker at the Colonial House Restaurant flagged down the officers and said Wright was in the back of the restaurant, according to police. Wright was taken into custody after police said he failed a series of sobriety tests.
