Norwood High School Dropout Rate Remains Steady

The school saw a slight decline in the rate.

NORWOOD, MA — The dropout rate at Norwood High School went slightly down in 2016, according to data from the state's Department of Education.

Last year, 0.8 percent of Norwood High School's 967 students left before completing their education. The number is slightly below last year's 0.9 percent and continues a downward trend that has seen the number go down since 2009, when the figure was 2.5 percent.

Across the grades, no freshmen dropped out, but 1.3 percent of sophomores, 1.2 percent of juniors, and 0.8 percent of seniors dropped out of high school.

Statewide, 5,523 students chose to drop out of high school, or about 1.9 percent of Massachusetts students.
