Norwood High School Unranked in 2017 U.S. News and World Report Top Schools Rankings

U.S. News and World Report's 2017 list of the best high schools is out.

NORWOOD, MA — Norwood High School is unranked in U.S. News and World Report's annual rankings of America's best high schools released this week.

The number one high school in Massachusetts is Boston Latin School. Nearby Medfield Senior High School is ranked fifth and Dedham High School is 48th.

The rankings are designed to capture how well high schools educate all of their students and prepare them for college-level work, the magazine said. Rankings are based on several factors including performance compared to expectations, graduation rates and college readiness performance.

These are Norwood's vital stats, according to the survey:

  • 14:1 student-teacher ratio
  • 24.4 college readiness score
  • 27 percent participate in AP exams
  • 88 percent pass AP exams
  • 80 percent proficiency in math
  • 91 percent proficiency in English
  • 93 percent graduation rate
