Norwood Man Charged In Jamaica Plain Armed Robbery

A Norwood man attempted to rob a convenience store in Jamaica Plain over the weekend, police said.

JAMAICA PLAIN, MA — A Norwood man attempted to rob a convenience store in Jamaica Plain over the weekend, police said.

Saquan Hines, 21, was arrested and charged with armed robbery, assault with a dangerous weapon, intent to rob while armed, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition, according to the Boston Police Department.

Police made the arrest at JP Convenience Store on Gay Head Street in Jamaica Plain on Dec. 30 at about 12:06 p.m. following a call for an armed robbery at the store. Police say Hines entered the store, pointed a gun at the clerk, and demanded cash before fleeing the store on foot.

Hines was located by responding officers on Creighton Street. No firearm was discovered on Hines, but police found cash in his pocket. Security footage showed Hines holding a black and silver firearm in his right hand during the robbery while stuffing cash into his left side pocket. The missing firearm was able to locate the missing firearm under a barrel on Edge Hill Street along with other evidence directly connected to the suspect, police said.

Hines is due in Roxbury District Court this week.
