Norwood Man in Westwood Plane Crash Dies
Hylie "Lee" Hutchens, 77, passed away at Boston Medical Center on July 20.

NORWOOD, MA — A Norwood man who was the passenger in a plane crash on July 16 has died. Hylie "Lee" Hutchens, 77, passed away at Boston Medical Center on July 20, according to his obituary.
Born in Cleveland, Hutchens was one of the three sons of Hylie W. Sr. and Helen Hutchens. He served on active duty in the US Navy from 1957 to 1959 in the submarine corps and then in the Naval Reserve for an additional 26 years.
After he moved to Massachusetts he worked as a branch manager for the Myers Tire Supply Company in Randolph, and then for many years as a consultant for Factory Mutual in Norwood.

In his spare time, he served as a member of Orient Lodge AF & AM of Norwood and of the Grand Lodge of Ohio. He enjoyed flying and officiating football and baseball.
He is survived by his wife, Diane; his two sons, David Hutchens, and his wife Carolyn, of Norwood, and Ken Hutchens, and his wife Laura, of Marlborough; his two brothers, Bernie Hutchens, and his wife Vicky, of Orleans, and Dale Hutchens, and his wife Peggy, of Lynnville, Tennessee; as well as his three cherished grandchildren, Chris, Tyler, and Ashley

A funeral was held at St. Paul’s Anglican Parish in Brockton on July 25.
On July 16 at 3:15 p.m., a plane carrying Hutchens crashed in Westwood a few miles away from Norwood Airport. The crash is under FAA investigation.
