Norwood Native Killed While Fleeing Police
Police say the vehicle ran through an intersection and into a stone wall.

NORWOOD, MA - A man who fled a Norwood police officer died late Wednesday night.
At about 11:20 p.m., an officer attempted to stop a car near the intersection of Dean Street and Route 1 for speeding. The car then took off as an unspecified high rate of speed, traveling west on Dean Street, police said. The officer tried to catch up with the vehicle, but the car ran through the intersection of Dean and Washington Streets intersection and through a stone wall.

Police say the driver was killed instantly.
The driver was identified as a 38-year-old man originally from Norwood. He had lived outside Massachusetts but moved back in May. At the time of his death, there were three warrants out for his arrest and his license was revoked, according to the Norwood Police Department.

Police are not sure if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
The crash is being investigated by the Norwood Police Department, Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office, and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Section.
