Norwood Police Log: August 15-16

Highlights from the daily police log.

Monday, Aug. 15

7:54 a.m. - Resident on Savin Avenue reported his tires were slashed. Officers responded to the scene and filed a report.

1:23 p.m. - Police received a call about a smashed vehicle window and items taken at the Building 19 3/4 location on Boston-Providence Highway. A report was filed.

5:59 p.m. - Norwood Fire Department and the Norwood Electric Light Department responded to trees down on wires at Bellevue Avenue.

10:09 p.m. - Officers checked the area near and around St. Catherine Road as it was reported two kids were knocking on doors and walking around homes. It was determined the kids were playing ding-dong-ditch, but they were not found.

10:41 p.m. - Resident at the intersection of Vernon and Nichols streets reported the smell of gas. The Norwood Fire Department and National Grid were notified.

Tuesday, Aug. 16

3:05 a.m. - Officers responded to a location on Silver Street after a receiving a 911 call with heavy static, then disconnecting. The home was in darkness and the air conditioner was running, but officers were unable to reach the homeowners.
