Norwood Police Log: August 16-18

Highlights from the daily police logs.

Tuesday, Aug. 16

8:43 a.m. - Additional officers were requested on Fisher Street because of increased traffic in the area, thanks to construction at Norwood High School.

9:34 a.m. - Police received a report of wires pulled down at Norwest Service Co. on Central Street. It might have been vandalism or people trying to break in.

4:14 p.m. - Officers receive a call about a tan van driving on Monroe Street. It's occupants allegedly were yelling and swearing out the window. Officers spoke to the caller and the van did not return.

8:52 p.m. - Caller at the intersection of Upland Road and Clapboardtree Street reported she was struck by a vehicle. Police placed the driver under arrest, Frederick Babcock, 16 Cobleigh in Westwood. He was charged with an OUI.

Wednesday, Aug. 17

3:44 a.m. - Police respond to a group of kids being loud on Austin Street. They were sent on their way.

11:22 a.m. - The Department of Public Works responded to paint vandalism at playground on Chapel Street.

5:02 p.m. - Norwood Fire Department and officers responded to a vehicle that had hit a gas pump at the Citgo Gas Station on Boston-Providence Highway. A car did not hit the pump and all was in order.

8:56 p.m. - Caller at the Elks on Winslow Avenue reported loud construction noise. Officers advised the construction workers.

Thursday, Aug. 18

1:19 a.m. - Resident at a location on Nahatan Street reported a large party was too loud downstairs. Partygoers were advised.
