Norwood Resident, CM Player Drafted by Red Sox

BC-bound and Gatorade Massachusetts Baseball Player of the Year drafted 1,522nd by hometown team.

Catholic Memorial's John Gorman's high school career was capped today after he was drafted 1,522nd by the hometown Boston Red Sox, according the Boston Herald. Gorman is expected to attend Boston College, which is what knocked him way down on draft boards.

The 6-foot 2-inch Norwood resident  complete with multiple no-hitters, ace performances on the mound, and accolades topped by being named the . 

The , 3-0, in the South Sectional Quarterfinals. Gorman struck out eight in as many innings, walking just two (one intentionally), but took the tough loss.

The pitcher/third baseman hopes to play both positions for the Golden Eagles next year. 

This year his pitching statistics were spectacular, with a 0.14 ERA and 72 strikeouts in 51 innings, before the most recent playoff game. With the bat he hit .362 with one home run.
