Outside Recruiter To Help Find Next Norwood General Manager
The board voted 4-1 to seek a recruitment consultant to assist in the search.

NORWOOD, MA — An outside recruiter will be used in the search for Norwood’s next general manager.
The board voted 4-1 to accept the recommendation of Norwood Human Resources Director Michelle Pizzi and seek a recruitment consultant to assist the board in their search. The board also voted 5-0 to appoint Chairperson William Plasko to be a liaison between the board and the search team.
Selectman Helen Abdallah Donohue voted against the first motion because she wanted to keep the search in-house, suggesting that they could use the human resources department and the Mass. Municipal Association.

“This procedure is done regularly around the Commonwealth. I’d like to focus Norwood on Norwood. Anything we need we can get through that association,” she said.
Pizzi told board members that they could use the HR department or use a recruiter, with a recommendation to use the recruiter.

“I believe in the concept of an outside agency. It keeps politics out of the situation and gives clarity to the whole process. It’s not unheard of, other towns have done it in the past and it worked out well,” Selectman Paul Bishop said.
The cost of the core work is estimated to be $10,000-16,000, with the total cost in the range of $18,0000-25,000. The search to find John Carroll’s success is expected to take about three or four months.
