Police Log: Drunk Driver Arrested After Vehicle Crash

Thursday, Nov. 13

At 7:47 a.m., police reported a hit and run in which a hydrant in front of Center Auto Body on Carnegie Row had been struck.

At 2:23 p.m., police reported a larceny by check on Fifth Street.

At 2:46 p.m., police reported a traffic light problem in which traffic lights were malfunctioning at the Chapel Street and Walpole Street intersection. The electric and light departments were notified.

At 3:30 p.m., police reported a motor vehicle accident in which a delivery truck hit a parked, unoccupied car in the Sunrise Assisted Living parking lot on Saunders Road.

Friday, Nov. 14

At 12:28 a.m., police arrested Eliset L. Ruiz, 42, 285 Dean St., for assault and battery on a police officer, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. Police responded to a report of a disturbance in which there was a possible fight in progress on Norwest Drive. One female, Ruiz, was put under arrest and one man was put into protective custody.

At 11:48 a.m., police reported a road hazard in which a vehicle struck an object in the road and caused a flat tire on Neponset Street. Police removed a five to six foot length of pipe from the road.

At 4:44 p.m., police reported malicious damage in which a vehicle was keyed in the train station parking lot last night.

At 5:53 p.m., police arrested a juvenile on a warrant arrest near Washington Street and St. James Avenue. The juvenile was transported to Brockton Alternate Juvenile Lockup.

At 8:22 p.m., police reported multiple breaking and entering vehicle attempts in the Friendly’s restaurant parking lot on Providence Highway.

At 10:23 p.m., police reported malicious damage in which a group of teenagers smashed the pumpkins on a Tremont Street property.



Saturday, Nov. 15

At 12:44 a.m., police reported a missing female from Norwood Group Home on Winter Street.

At 9:04 a.m., police reported a power outage in which a transformer exploded on Garfield Avenue. The electric and light departments were notified.

At 11:49 a.m., police reported an animal complaint in which a tan pug was roaming the neighborhood near Silver Street and Nathan Street.

At 1:04 p.m., police arrested Douglas R. Hooper Jr., 43, 34 Queensboro Ct., for a marked lanes operation and operating under the influence of liquor with a blood alcohol content of .08% or greater. Hooper was involved in a motor vehicle accident near the intersection of Washington Street and E. Hoyle Street.

At 11:10 p.m., police reported a fight at Norwood Hospital on Washington Street in which a patient was in a fight with staff and security. The subject was restrained and charges were filed.

Sunday, Nov. 16

At 8:16 a.m., police reported a combative patient and family members at Norwood Hospital on Washington Street.

At 9:22 a.m., police reported an animal complaint in which a resident found a dog on George Willet Parkway.

At 2:50 p.m., police reported a violation of a town bylaw in which a resident blew leaves onto the street on David Terrace. The resident was spoken to and told to pick up the leaves.

At 3:30 p.m., police reported a drug law violation at Norwood Hospital on Washington Street in which a visitor attempted to give illegal drugs to a patient.
