Statue To Honor John Carroll's 39 Years As Norwood GM

The tribute to the outgoing general manager is being donated by Norwood Bank.

NORWOOD, MA — Outgoing Norwood General Manager John Carroll's 39 years on the job will be remembered with a small statue on the common.

Tuesday night, the selectmen voted to accept the gift from Norwood Bank. The bank will pay up to $50,000 for the purchase, shipping, and installation of Harvey Lee Price's "Harvest Joy Kids." The statue is the second time Price's work has been installed in Norwood, with the other piece located at the Willett School.

"You are the hometown bank and once again you proved you are the hometown bank," Selectman Hellen Abdallah Donohue told Norwood Bank President John Galvani.

The statue was revealed last week at Carroll's retirement party. Carroll said he was overwhelmed by the gift.

"Thank you very much. The bank has been a wonderful partner to the town and many organizations. This is the icing on the cake, it's really wonderful," Selectmen Chairman William Plasko said.
