All too often the cute fuzzy “FREE” kitten wins over our hearts and many of us invite them into our homes. However, without proper planning this new bundle of fur becomes a financial burden quickly, needing food, litter and most importantly veterinarian care.
As a result, many un-altered kittens and cats start marking their territories and are quickly pushed outdoors by owners. Fighting amongst other cats, spraying, wounds of un-known origin and ultimately unwanted pregnancies result. This is a cycle we as rescue organizations see on a regular basis and work hard to assist with. We educate owners and offer spay/neuter resources to citizens. In too many cases though, the once “cute, fuzzy, sweet” kitten or cat is surrendered.
