Trash Truck, Norwood Police Cruiser Involved In Crash

The drivers of the vehicles were taken to the hospital.

NORWOOD, MA — Two people were taken to the hospital following an early morning crash in Norwood. At about 5:11 a.m., Norwood Fire responded to a report of a rollover crash involving a Norwood Police Department cruiser and a trash truck on Pendergast Circle. The trash truck was still running when Norwood Fire arrived and a line was pulled in case a fire sparked.

Trapped in an overturned garbage truck but conscious, the driver was extricated and so was the police officer. Both were transported to the hospital for further evaluation, according to the Norwood Fire Department.

Police closed the road for a few hours and were at the scene until a little after 9 a.m.
