Two-Alarm Fire Strikes Buckminster Drive Building

Firefighters from Norwood and Walpole responded to the blaze.

NORWOOD, MA — Fire crews in Norwood responded to a two-alarm apartment blaze on Buckimster Drive Friday afternoon.

At approximately 1:20 p.m., Norwood Fire Dispatch received a 911 call reporting an alarm and smoke coming out of the roof of 300 Buckminster Dr., according to the Norwood Fire Department. Norwood and Walpole fire responded and found some minor smoke upon arrival.

Despite some difficulty finding the source of the fire, it was located in a single apartment and had spread to a shared void space in the ceiling between apartments, Norwood fire said.

Following a request for mutual aid, the fire was contained to the single building and crews remained on scene until about 4 p.m.

The cause is under investigation.
