Violent Crime, Property Crime Up In Norwood: FBI
Crime stats from 2016 were recently released by the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Uniform Crime Reporting Program.

NORWOOD, MA — Violent crime in Norwood increased from 2015-2016, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Uniform Crime Reporting Program. The UCR recently released 2016 crime stats reported to the FBI by more than 16,000 law enforcement agencies nationwide.
The UCR breaks down violent and property crime, as well as specific type of crime reported. According to the FBI data, 206 violent crimes were reported in 2016, up from 193 the previous year. Property crime however, had a much larger downturn: 1,206 property crimes were reported in 2016 versus 1,634 in 2015.
The FBI's measured population for Norwood was 29,058.

Here's a look at the specific types of crime in Norwood in 2016, and how those compare to 2015:
- Murder: 1 in 2015; 0 in 2016
- Rape (revised definition - includes any sexual act "without consent"): 6 in 2015; 7 in 2016
- Robbery: 4 in 2015; 9 in 2016
- Aggravated assault: 11 in 2015; 14 in 2016
- Burglary: 66 in 2015; 44 in 2016
- Larceny-theft: 217 in 2015; 229 in 2016
- Motor vehicle theft: 27 in 2015; 23 in 2016
