Weekend Police Log: August 5-8

Highlights from the weekend police log.

Friday, Aug. 5:

6:28 a.m. - Resident on E. Cross Street reported a "loud boom," followed by a power outage. An officer was sent to investigate and Norwood Light was notified. 

4:58 p.m. - Caller on Lansdowne Way reported a man running around in his underwear. Officers were sent to the scene and it was determined the man actually was wearing cargo shorts and helping someone move.

11:31 p.m. - An officer found four juveniles at a playground on Wilson Street. They were released to custody of their parents and reports were filed.

Saturday, Aug. 6:

1:10 a.m. - A car was stolen from a driveway on Neponset Street. It is a 1997 black Nissan Altima with a license plate number MA 869MP9. A report was filed.

3:43 a.m. - Resident on Lincoln Street reported yelling from across the street. Officers responded and discovered the noise was coming from an open window from a house. The girls were advised of the complaint.

1:51 p.m. - Caller on Hemlock Street reported a back window of the home was shot out by a BB gun. An officer responded to the incident.

8:07 p.m. - Caller at Prescott School on Richland Road reported a pet lizard was left in a change on the playground. Animal Control responded and removed the animal.

Sunday, Aug. 7:

12:52 a.m. - Caller at the intersection of Pleasant and Talbot streets reported a drunk person in the roadway. When an officer went to investigate, he discovered the person lying in the grass. The officer requested an ambulance as the person had been hit by a vehicle. No other information was given.

6:20 p.m. - Officers noticed graffiti was painted on the floor of the gazebo in the Town Common. A report was filed.

6:47 p.m. - Caller reported a gas smell at Walpole Street. The Norwood Fire Department was sent to handle the incident.

Monday, Aug. 8:

12:33 a.m. - Caller at the intersection of Irving and Prospect streets reported kids in the area moving trash barrels. An officer went to investigate and although no kids were found, barrels were in the street. The Department of Public Works was notified and the barrels were moved.
