Wendy’s/BJ’s Project Gets Special Permits

The site plan approval, however, has been delayed.

NORWOOD, MA — The plan to bring a Wendy's and BJ's gas station to Route 1 has two of the needed permits.

Last Monday, following a three-hour hearing, the planning board granted the project, to be located at 1412-1420 Boston-Providence Turnpike, two special permits. A vote on the site plan was delayed until Sept. 11, according to the Norwood Record.

The owners of the office building at 1420 Boston-Providence Highway are hoping to knock down the building, split the property into two, and bring the fast food restaurant and gas station to the corner of Route 1 and Sumner Street.

Residents in the nearby neighborhood, along with some board members, showed concern about the amount of traffic that could be generated by the site.

Representatives for the applicant have said in the past they don’t expect much more traffic, telling the board that the discount price at the gas station is for BJ’s members only and the Wendy’s won’t open until 10:30 a.m.
