Woman Wanted in Illinois Arrested in Norwood

Shortly after 7 a.m. Thursday, Jennifer Watkins was taken into custody by police on a warrant out of Illinois.

NORWOOD, MA — A woman who gained attention in a 2008 murder was arrested by the Norwood Police Department Thursday morning.

Shortly after 7 a.m., Jennifer Watkins was taken into custody by police on a warrant out of Illinois. Police say she gained attention in 2008 when her ex-husband, Steven Watkins, was murdered by Shirley Skinner, Jennifer's grandmother, during a visit to their home. Skinner is serving a 55-year sentence.

Police say Jennifer Watkins fled Illinois to Florida in 2010 in order to prevent her in-laws from gaining visitation rights to her daughter, eventually ending up in Norwood. She was arrested without incident and is awaiting extradition to Illinois, police said.
