• MVC fights to keep power over affordable housing reviews (mvtimes.com) — A major 116‑unit housing project proposed in Oak Bluffs is tied up in broader legal battles over how much power the Martha’s Vineyard Commission has to review affordable housing developments. As the MVC and Edgartown officials challenge a state ruling in court, developers are pressing ahead under a separate approval, leaving big questions about future growth, infrastructure, and local control on the Island. 
• Chilmark Appoints New Building Inspector (vineyardgazette.com) — Oak Bluffs residents may notice a familiar name moving around Island town halls, as Chilmark has chosen current Edgartown building inspector Reade Milne to fill its vacant inspector role. The move follows Adam Petkus leaving for the Oak Bluffs commissioner job and comes after interviews that also included former Oak Bluffs commissioner Matt Rossi.
• Mako Shark mascot chosen, but school committee tables vote (mvtimes.com) — A possible new Mako shark mascot for Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School nods to the Island’s shark history and the replica catch hanging at Nancy’s Restaurant in Oak Bluffs. Students and staff narrowly chose the shark over the osprey, but the school committee has delayed officially adopting it while they sort out policies and the fate of the old fisherman mascot.
