• Sheriff Fears for Future of County Lockup (vineyardgazette.com) — Oak Bluffs residents could be affected if state funding changes threaten the Dukes County regional lockup that serves all six Vineyard towns. Sheriff Robert Ogden is asking towns, including Oak Bluffs, to sign agreements proving the lockup is essential so lawmakers will protect its funding. Without it, local police would face major new costs and logistical challenges handling arrests and bookings. 
• Vineyard Haven man arrested by ICE for homicide in Brazil (mvtimes.com) — A Vineyard Haven resident with past charges handled by Oak Bluffs police is now in federal custody, accused of homicide in Brazil and held in Plymouth. Immigration officials say his arrest was part of a New England operation targeting foreign nationals wanted for serious crimes abroad, raising public safety concerns for Island communities.
