• Murdick's closes Island storefronts (mvtimes.com) — Murdick’s Fudge has permanently closed all three of its Martha’s Vineyard storefronts, including the Oak Bluffs shop many residents and visitors relied on for summer treats. The Michigan-based company says the Island locations never reopened this season after the local manager was seriously injured, and a difficult decision was made to shut them down for good while online sales continue. 
• Groundbreaking at Bellevue (mvtimes.com) — A new 12-unit Bellevue Veterans Community is now under construction on town-owned land in Oak Bluffs, bringing permanently affordable one-bedroom rentals for low- and moderate-income veterans. Developed by Island Housing Trust with the town and Cape and Islands Veterans Outreach Center, the $7.6 million project aims to open late next year, with applications to be shared soon through Island veteran support groups.
• Real Estate Transactions: Week Ending Sept. 25 (vineyardgazette.com) — Several Oak Bluffs properties changed hands in the week ending Sept. 25, including homes on Sea Glen Road, East Chop Drive, Webster Avenue, and Hidden Cove Road, with prices ranging from just over $500,000 to $8.3 million. These sales, alongside deals in neighboring Vineyard towns, highlight how active and high-priced the Island real estate market remains this fall.
