• Quabbin water plan draws flood of opposition at crowded hearing (atholdailynews.com) — A state hearing on a proposal to draw 20 million more gallons a day from the Quabbin Reservoir drew strong opposition, including from an Orange resident who criticized the plan as an unchecked “slush fund” for future water use. Western Massachusetts speakers argued the move risks local water security and economic development while primarily benefiting growth in eastern communities, and public comments remain open until Oct. 7.
