The event is set for the Higgins Middle School Auditorium at 6:30 p.m.

The forum will address safety issues and legal consequences tied to those vehicles. The program is also intended to cover recent issues and trends, along with safety tips, laws and guidance for parents and riders.

The event is aimed in part at families weighing whether to buy an e-bike, e-scooter or e-dirtbike for a child. It encourages parents to make an informed decision before purchasing one of those vehicles.

Speakers will include Safe Routes to School, Peabody Police, a local bike shop, Boston Children's Hospital and Higgins Middle School Principal Seith Berdard.

Additional speakers are expected.

The Peabody Police Department this spring increased patrols and enforcement targeting bicycles, e-bikes, mopeds, dirt bikes and other similar vehicles after police said they've gotten "numerous reports of reckless operation" from youth operators across the city.
