Peabody Police Patrols To Target Reckless Bicycle, E-Bike, Dirt Bike Activity
Police said the patrols are in response to "numerous reports of reckless operation" from youth across the city.
PEABODY, MA — The Peabody Police Department will increase patrols and enforcement targeting bicycles, e-bikes, mopeds, dirt bikes and other similar vehicles after police said they've gotten "numerous reports of reckless operation" from youth operators across the city in recent weeks.
Police said the patrols will be watching for reckless operation, operating on roadways unlawfully, failure to obey traffic signals and signs, helmet violations, and "unsafe riding practices that endanger the public."
"Parents and guardians are encouraged to speak with their children about the importance of following traffic laws and wearing proper safety equipment," police said. "Helmets are one of the most effective ways to prevent serious injury in the event of a crash.
